Giuseppe Sorrenti received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Torino and Collegio Carlo Alberto (IT). His doctoral thesis mainly focused on Economics of Education and considered the different steps of the educational process from early child care to university studies. After his Ph.D., Dr. Sorrenti moved to the University of Zurich (Dept. of Economics) as Post-Doctoral Fellow. He is currently also a research affiliate of the Jacobs Center for Productive Youth Development at the University of Zurich and CHILD-Collegio Carlo Alberto. Dr. Sorrenti is a Public Economist and his main research interests are in human capital accumulation and, in particular, child development. His research mainly aims at understanding how to design and implement policies and interventions fostering child development and equality of opportunities, especially for children from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds. Dr. Sorrenti is currently studying the contemporaneous effect of family income and maternal labor supply on child cognitive and non-cognitive development. He is also running a big scale Randomized Control Trial in Italy which tries to compare the effects of conditional versus unconditional cash transfers to families (with children) living under the poverty threshold.
