Dr. Corinne Igel, research associate

Corinne Igel received her Ph.D. in sociology 2009, supervised by Professor Marc Szydlik at the Department of Sociology, University of Zurich. Her doctoral thesis examined intergenerational transfers from grandparents to their grandchildren. The comparative study provides insights into the emotional, practical and financial transfers of grandparents in eleven European countries and into the interplay of family and state concerning child care services of small children. After the completion of her doctoral thesis, Corinne worked at the market and social research company GfK Switzerland, managing large qualitative and quantitative studies for universities, federal offices, foundations and private organisations. Since December 2017 Corinne Igel is responsible for the COCON data management, the current COCON data collection (8th survey of the child cohort), and the preparation of COCON scientific use file (SUF) for FORS.
