Dr. Annekatrin Steinhoff received her Ph.D. in sociology from the University of Muenster, Germany. Her doctoral work focused on the associations among social cognitive development, solitude behavior, and friendship quality across childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood. During her doctoral studies, she also spent time at the Max-Planck-Institute for Human Development in Berlin,  at Wilfrid Laurier University in Canada, and also University of Toronto in Canada. Dr. Steinhoff has been a postdoctoral research collaborator at the Jacobs Center for Productive Youth Development at the University of Zurich since 2015. Her research interests include the dynamic interplay between young people’s social and emotional development and characteristics of the social environment, particularly in the realm of family and peer contexts. Two particular foci are on 1) adolescent coping with stressful life circumstances, and 2) changes in social relationships associated with growing up. Given her interests in social and individual developmental processes from a life course perspective, longitudinal data analyses are at the core of her research agenda.
