Dr. Laura Bechtiger ist derzeit Postdoktorandin im Forschungsbereich Risiko & Resilienz des Jacobs Centers for Productive Youth Development unter der Leitung von Prof. Lilly Shanahan. Lauras Forschung konzentriert sich auf das Verständnis und die Beschreibung von Entwicklungsprozessen und -verläufen individueller Unterschiede in psychischer Gesundheit und anderen Benachteiligungen, einschliesslich generationenübergreifender Muster von (Dis-)Kontinuität in psychologischen und Verhaltenstendenzen.
Zuvor erwarb sie einen Bachelor of Science, einen Master of Science und einen Doktortitel in Psychologie an der Universität Zürich und studierte auch an der Universität Padova, Italien. Laura ist Absolventin der Max Planck International Research School on the Life Course (LIFE). In ihrer Dissertation untersuchte sie die Zusammenhänge zwischen der psychischen Gesundheit von Müttern und dem Wohlbefinden von Jugendlichen in akademischen, gesundheitlichen und sozialen Bereichen. In all ihren aktuellen und früheren Forschungsarbeiten arbeitet Laura mit Daten aus verschiedenen bevölkerungsbasierten, prospektiv-longitudinalen Kohortenstudien und hat Erfahrungen mit verschiedenen Methoden der Längsschnittdatenanalyse gesammelt.
Zusammen mit ihren Kolleginnen koordiniert Laura die R Peer Mentoring Group, eine selbstinitiierte Gruppe mit dem Ziel, Nachwuchswissenschaftler:innen, die die Software R für statistische Analysen verwenden, miteinander zu vernetzen, indem sie Statistik-Workshops mit Experten, career talks und soziale Events organisiert (weitere Informationen finden Sie hier www.jacobscenter.uzh.ch/en/events/ecr/r-group.html).
