STRESS

STRESS is the 2022 flagship project of the Hochschulmedizin Zurich. With over 15 partner institutions we aim to study risk and resilience of stress exposure across the lifespan. Acute and prolonged stress significantly impacts our daily life and is associated with the development of neuropsychiatric symptoms and disorders. Early life adversity increases the likelihood to develop physical and mental health consequences. In collaboration with Prof. Todd Hare, the NMR Kids Lab investigates when, how, and for whom stressful life events result in negative outcomes. This may depend on the severity, frequency, and timing of negative experiences as well as on individual characteristics. Therefore, our studies aim to yield insights into the biological factors and behavioral predispositions that individually or conjointly impact mental health outcomes during stressful life situations.
