History and Theory of Violence

How violence evolved since the Middle Ages and what this tells us about human nature

As a social scientist and historian, Prof. Dr. Manuel Eisner, has extensively studied the long-term developments of violence going back to medieval times. His research has shown that levels of violence were much higher 1000 years ago, which puts recent trends in violence in perspective. These insights, coupled with a profound theoretical knowledge form the basis for the development of a general theory of violence.
